I hope someone sees the humor in this =)

Cult Tattoo Phenomena #2: Hello Kitty
Cult Tattoo Phenomena #2: Hello Kitty
A while ago, I wrote up little article about the crazy cupcake tattoo phenomena that has exploded in that past few years.
Well, recently I've been noticing more and more Hello Kitty and HK inspired tattoos. I know that this isn't anything new. It's more just that I wonder why people want to get this lovable little creature tattooed on themselves. I mean, it's a grade school girl's cartoon character. Maybe it's just part of the "Getting tattoos of things that I liked when I was a kid" scenario. I was never into Hello Kitty, and neither were my little sisters so I'm a bit lost on this one. To me, it's always been a Japanese school-girl thing. I don't even recall Hello Kitty that much growing up.
What's interesting is that the standard Hello Kitty logo is the one that I see the least. A vast majority of them have all been modified or spliced with another iconic character.
Day of the Dead (El Dia de los Muertos) Hello Kitty Tattoo:

Halo Kitty Tattoo (this one's pretty sweet):

Hello Kitty Jesus Tattoo:

And here's a gallery of a ton more Hello Kitty Tattoos!

And just for kicks, I thought I'd throw these bad boys in here as well. I mean, they are pretty cool!
So you've seen Darth Kitty (or Hello Kitty Darth Vader tattoo)...well, here's Darth Vader as Hello Kitty =)

Hello Kitty Jesus Tattoo:

For the Star Wars fans, we have the Hello Kitty Darth Vader tattoo and the Hello Kitty Storm Trooper tattoo:

To bring things more on the side of Hardcore Hello Kitty, Brian Decker (xPUREx) created this Hello Kitty implant:

My "pins-and-needles" image that brings this all together... the Hello Kitty Cupcake Tattoo!:

And lastly we have what could be considered the most ultimate / fanatical / lunacy hello kitty tattoo to top them all, the Hello Kitty Forehead Tattoo:

The owner's name is Garry and he is a musician / author / wrestler from Ohio. The tattoo artist that did it is Rev. Chad Wells. Garry (aka. Jacurutu3 / Scary Garry) also has a hello kitty branding on his hand. Judging from the other icon tattoos (notice PacMan on the neck), and the Muscle Men figures in his hair, I'm thinking he's a product of the 80's =)
