Hi guys,
Went and got a piercing today on the 'rim' of my ear. I already had one there going vertically so I'd planned to get another hole so I could get an orbital when it healed. The piercing's wrongly placed as far as I can see. I told the piercer that I wanted an orbital and was going to have a ring going through both holes. After she'd finished it looked correct from the front, it was only when I got home that I saw the piercing was going horizontally through my ear. Here's a picture which shows the placement: The picture is quite graphic. Sorry about the blood. ![]() I'd really appreciate your comments on this. May she have thought I meant something else? Would it actually be possible to have an orbital with the holes placed like that? I'm skeptical. Also, I'm wondering what I should do with regard to getting it repierced the way I'd imagined. Is it best to take the jewelery out as soon as possible for the best healing? Aka. should I take it out now? I can't get to the piercer till next weekend. Thank you. when i got my orbital, i already had one hole and i got the other pierced with the CBR so it was pierced as an orbital.
maybe you should go and talk to her and discuss what you said you wanted, and what happened. or, you could get an orbital a bit lower down (which is where i got mine.. have a look on my profile at my mod pics). it was relatively less hassle there because the ear is straighter than up at the top. if you want it where you originally wanted it, i would take it out as soon as possible. but on the other hand, i wouldn't suggest you take it out and lose a piercing when you don't know if she'll do another one for free x |

yeah, that doesn't look right at all if you are wanting an orbital as the ring won't line up.

What an ass of a piercer... or perhaps ya'll did not communicate well. Either way, that will not work for a standard orbital. Some other professional in your area should be able to bend something for you, if you REALLY want to keep this piercing. If it were mine, I'd remove it.
Your piercings appear to be about 5/16" apart, which would be an ity-bitty orbital. Orbitals and any piercings which involve one piece of jewelry passing through multiple piercings are somewhat tricky. A "top 40" piercer will not pull off more complex piercings particularly well (if at all). Perhaps a different professional should be commissioned for this job. edit- Regarding the questions in the last paragraph of the original post: As long as the piercing looks healthy, and you wash your hands before fiddling with it, you will be fine to remove the jewelry now. If it makes you more comfortable, you may wait to have a piercer remove the jewelry. You should let this wound heal, before having your ear re-pierced. The fewer wounds your body has to heal at once, the better. Remember to keep the wound clean, and leave it alone while it heals. Edited by Nicoleslavich - May/02/2009 at 7:01pm |

Thanks a lot! :) I'm going to go and talk to her next weekend and see what she says about it. I'm really interested to hear her response. As far as now is concerned, I'm going to take it out and let it heal as I'm very much set on my original vision. Perhaps I'll get a slightly larger diameter orbital in a couple of weeks which would avoid any scar tissue. I'm not too worried about if I have to pay again at any point, I just want a piercing which I'm happy with! Ohh, another question. Am I right in thinking it should heal up much quicker without jewelery in it?
Thanks again for your help and comments. EDIT: Just tried for two hours trying to get the jewelery out but I can't unscrew it. ![]() Edited by odiecreversed - May/02/2009 at 9:40pm |
