I ligatured my tongue, but I went with patience rather than pain.

Stop using that method and take a scalpel to cut it? I can promise you it's faster.

It's obviously way faster..
I'm waiting til I split my tongue with fishing line, then I'm getting the web removed, then cutting it further back when there's no web in my way.

I'm doing the fishing line method solely for experience.

I really recommend using something gentler than fishing line.
Dental floss or polyfilament sutures work better.
A scalpel is the proper tool to cut your tongue with.
You should get in mind that you are not cutting your tongue.
If you were cutting your tongue, you are going about it very painfully & stupid.
The process of splitting a tongue by using 'string' tied in a tongue ring is called 'ligaturing.'
A ligature is a small tourniquet that is left on to remove tissue.
It does not work by "cutting"
It restricts blood flow and narcotizes tissue.

1. Stop calling it cutting.
2. Use a ployfilament ligature.
3. Loosen your knot.
4. Don't advise this method on these forums because it pisses people off.

im not saying i know the be all and end all of the ways of the tongue but what i do know is your way fucking sucks.
fact.
unnecessary? hmmm not really!

all we can do is suggest and comment on the method you have chosen.
it's kind of the point to this forum.
and it's your choice to either take our advice or ignore it.

I like the idea of creating a FAQ for tongue ligaturing.
Professional body artists may not, but this is a place for modification;
not solely for Bmod pros.
The advise "go to a pro" is easy to give,
but it does not aid a person in ligaturing their tongue.

If this is a constructive conversation about how to "cut" a tongue with a piece of string,
then I would like to help.
I would like to help you with your problem that you described about not sleeping with your ligature in.
I disagree with that.
Your reasoning for taking the ligature out was painful sleep and tissue regrowth over the ligature.

If you fall asleep with a ligature that is too tight, you will awake in agony.
Your problem is not leaving the ligature in; it is tying too tight.
Regrowth will happen regardless of whether you leave your ligature in or take it out.
Regrowth can be minimalized by leaving the ligature loose.

Did we have this discussion before?

I made this thread to inform people on different ways I've done this and yes, we've had this discussion and your way was good but I'm experimenting right now.

Dental floss, it's 100x more comfortable than fishing line.
In this thread he mentioned ployfilament ligature, but I haven't tried to say the difference; it's probably more comfortable.

i do not totally disagree with such a thread but i will post to say what method i feel is best. pro or not. i dont personally offer the procedure but i have gone to a pro to get it done.

all we can do is offer advise as a community and try and discourage bad suggestions.

^ you're right.
The subject is mislabeled for it's intent.
