i cant stand hip hop, rap, modern r&b.
and most metal bands, the only exceptions are very very few bands like sikth or napalm death. or techno, though i can cope with things like hardcore, psytrance, drum&bass etc, i dont particularly like them either though. and gruff punk, like hot water music, the lawrence arms, the gaslight anthem etc, though i like against me. and most modern hardcore bands, im more into 80s hardcore like gorilla biscuits, minor threat etc, though i dont listen to it much any more. and pop punk. pretty much all pop punk, apart from descendents/all. and indie. i fucking hate indie. and electro. and all that. edit:and country. i fucking hate country too. i suppose its more particular bands as opposed to a whole type of music. If you want depressing music that isn't shit, try listening to some Swans. As a bonus, they've recently reunited (minus Jarboe, which is a plus) and have some live dates in the next few months.

Sweden and the other nordic countries never had real pop bands back in the days music was invented (The Beatles, Stones, and the rest) so we got a thing called, directly translated from Swedish, Dancebands. This is probably not a uniquely swedish kind of band, but we seem to have a shit load of them, and it is one of the least unique, most depressing, and most conservative kind of music around. It hasn't changed for 50 years and I doubt it ever will. And it, as we say in Sweden: Suger get. Stor fet jävla get.

We have the same type of music in Denmark and it's absolutely horrific! Other than that country annoy me, as do R'n'B, Soul and generic pop/dance music... I require music with soul (just not Soul :P)! edit: And Calypso, I effing hate Calypso!! Edited by Calem - July/07/2010 at 6:54am |

I pretty much like all styles of music. I used to hate a few styles - opera and country mostly - but I like nothing more than challenging my own opinions and whatnot so I really researched them both and got kinda into some of it. I think an actual hatred of any kind of music probably says more about the person listening to it than the music itself.

as a younger person, i would say immediately that country music is a firm hate for me...
i listen to a smattering of music from all genres now.... so much so that i have begun to have a firm hatred of the idea of genres.... "hey, do you like trip-hop? do you like EBM? do you like Indie Blues Post Pop? etc...." there's too much... if it sounds good, i listen to it... however, ther are bands (groups, people, puppets) who, to me, have not redeeming factors... britney spears, miley cyrus, justin beiber, metallica after the black album, attak attak, Zwan and anything Billy Corgan does outside of Smashing Pumpkins in the Melancholy and the Infinite Sadness era.... the only type of music that i do not tolerate at all is polka.... i find it to be absolutely stupid and grating to my nerves... |
