I searched the forums & didn't find anything. I may be overreacting here, but I just wanted to double check.

Is jade an acceptable material to use for an initial jewelry? Longish story short: I believe I was having a reaction to the metal in the tunnels for my healing 8ga lobes, so I went to the local shop to see if they had titanium or something. He said that the only biocompatible material in 8ga they had was a pair of jade spirals. I guess I'm wondering if, in retrospect, I should've gone elsewhere to find something Ti instead. Also, does it matter that the section that is through my lobe isn't perfectly cylindrical?

Thank you

Try Glasswear studios, or Gorilla Glass, glass is going to be your best bet.

Ah, so you'd recommend replacing them?

What do you think of something like this?:

They'd work fine. Glass is non porous, easy to clean, and doesn't have toxins like acrylic and surgical steel does.
Titanium, is great, but costly.

Thanks for the input. I was hoping I wouldn't have to change jewelry again during healing. Ah well. Further reason to not go back to that shop.

Jade should be okay for a fresh stretch..
Why did you think you were having a reaction to the metal?
Has that stopped since you changed the jewellery?
Shouldn't matter if what you have in your ear isn't perfectly cylindrical either, I've stretched with spirals four or five times, they are comfy and pretty. :)

I've got problems of my own, but not the kind that can be solved with an atom bomb.
