Would like any info on this at all!
By larger I am talking between 4mm and 9mm. I have never had my navel pierced, and anyone I know irl who does have one is a stereotypical young female who doesn't really take an interest in piercings in general. I've heard a good many stories about standard size navel piercings rejecting. Does stretching this part of the body not work out well? Or is it really like any other piercing.. depends on good placement and aftercare? Is healing this piercing basically like a surface piercing..? |

Im at a 4gbar right now. that's what I had it pierced at because stretching there is difficult from what I've heard. I haven't been able to go any bigger actually. Im going to get mine cut again so I can put my 2g opal top in. If your piercer is qualified enough have them pierce it larger and BE CAREFUL with it. Mine took around 6mo to heal fully. If you lead an active lifestyle its easier for it to reject as well because that is such a high movement area. If its done right and deep enough though you shouldn't have any problems.

I pierced a navel at 4mm with a nice piece of curved glass. As long as there is enough pliable tissue, there shouldn't be many problems with a large gauge navel piercing. Stretching it is also an option, and you should just take your time with it like any other stretched piercing.

My navel has been at a 2 gauge for a few years, it was stretched up from a 10 gauge. I've worn a pyrex navel curve in it for ages and I love the way it looks.
I remember stretching my navel wasn't too bad at all, but I don't remember much about it since it was done years ago. |

Thanks to all three of you! (:
I'm going to see if I'm able to get it initially pierced at 3 or 4mm... I would prefer to initially wear 4mm jewelry but can't fucking imagine what a 6 gauge needle would feel like... D: Trish, did you stretch up with glass navel curves or with tape? Is GWS' colored glass safe for healing initial piercings? I know the colorfronts, clear glass, and quartz all are, but they don't offer navel curve colorfronts... |

Yes the colored glass is safe for initial piercing.

I stretched it with titanium barbells until they got too big & expensive, and then switched over to pyrex navel curves. I've never really liked the thought of taping a piercing, so I've never done it. Edited by tattooedtrish - September/04/2011 at 9:45pm |
