or, playing off the doll idea, a broken doll. the most common reason for girls to cry.

going back to my original suggestion - in a way, it can be said to be related. fancy hair and make-up is for 'big girls'. and scissors/a handheld mirror can be done quite nicely on the 'old style'.

you could always get an overweight girl's silhouette as well, playing a pun on the 'big girls'

Maybe an old and weathered rag doll -missing an arm and an eye or something- trying to fix her hair or put on makeup.

How about a robot girl. Robots can not cry. So the robot shows not only the strength of not crying but also the inability to fully express emotion. Also robots are cool.

maybe if i post my reason for having the quote it'll make things easier, as i know i'm being too ambigious so i'm not being helpful.

like ros said, it's about being a big girl, and learning not to let other people put you down because of it, along with having general insecurities and learning to deal with those insecurities and except what you are and who you are. no point crying over what can't be changed, and definitely no point in crying over what CAN be changed, you have a choice! so that's my little spin on it.
