Hello, I have been debating on splitting my tongue for years now and I just recently decided that I am for sure going to go through with it. I'm not going to be doing it for a couple of years, though, because I would like to get my tongue pierced and gauged to help lower the chances of regrowth.
I have a couple of questions. I understand that everyone's pain tolerance is different, but I'd like to know how it felt for different people. Like how much it hurt, strange sensations afterwards. I heard feeling stuff on the split is strange for a while.
I'd also like to know how it cost for you guys if you got it done in a shop rather than a surgeon. Once again, I understand the pricing will be different everywhere.

Do you know HOW you want your tongue split? Like... electrocautery, or scalpel, or scalpeled and stitched...?
The answers to your questions will probably be dramatically different based on the method that you want to use. |

ah, yes. I was thinking just scalpelled. I don't really want to do the stitching. But my options are always open.

dont bother gauaging ur tongue, it wont make much difference to it in the end. (and its "STRETCHING" not guaging, 'beats head against the wall over the use of the phrase guaging'.
no offense to the OP though, its a common mistake, but very fucking annoying at the same time. |

yes, I know it's not gauging but for some reason it's a habit to say... and I believe you just said gauging!!! haha
And don't worry I'm not some little stupid girl who doesn't know what the fuck they're talking about, there was no need to go into detail about the difference between gauge and stretch. Do you have your tongue split? I also liked the idea of stretching my tongue so that there's less to cut through, haha. Thanks for the advice, though. |

If I sounded like a tit I apologise, I in no ment to offend. In all honesty u may b better off just going for a straight split. The whole 'anchor' thing makes no difference to a split. If u go for it keep us updated n pics plz :-D . PS im Irish n ur green hair is cool as SHITE -:) ,dunno y I added that ha:-D

Oh, no it's okay, I don't get offended easily... I just needed to clarify that I'm not stupid! haha. I understand why it gets annoying because gauge is indeed not a verb!
Maybe I will just go for a straight split, because I'm antsy to get it done... And getting my tongue pierced and stretching would take a a while.

If you're going the scalpel route, I do suggest you get the suturing alongside/afterwards as well. I've heard many great things from those who perform this way to promote better healing and less re-growth.
Also, the majority of the (better) artists don't usually openly advertise they perform these mods (mostly for legal reasons) so I would also do some good research on those who do perform them in your immediate area, and making sure they have pictures of good quality, healed ones too. |

Okay, thank you! I've already been doing some research and I'm also going to ask my piercer next time I'm in, since he's into heavy body mods. This is definately something I don't want to fuck around with, so I'm going to try and make sure I'm going somewhere good.
Does suturing stop the bleeding at all? |
