so about two months ago i got my right conch pierced. and for the first few days little to no pain, but the piercer i went to was new in my shop and i didn't really know who she was or how she worked.
flash forward to now. there are two large lumps around the back and front (i'm guessing its hypotrphic scaring) and i'm wondering if it was because the jewelry she had me for initial healing was (i just found out ) was about 5/16th wearable area.that and the flat back has really sharp edges for some reason. as of now I was finally able to switch out the jewelry to something that has more room and i've been cleaning it regularly since it was pierced. what it looks like now with the longer jewelry Edited by Eui1337 - June/04/2012 at 8:18pm |

Did your piercer compress the tissue around the piercing after inserting the jewelry?

nope. i would have never let her touch my ear with clamps. she pierced it at a 9g and tapered it to a 10. it took her a while to get the front bead on but that was the only issue beyond it hurting more than my other conch piercing (i switched it from the initial jewelery of a straight labret style barbell to the circular one i have now). once it calms down i'm going to buy the same type of jewlery i have in my other one, but the problem i think i was having was it was just long enough that it wouldn't start sinking in from the swelling, but nothing beyond that.
but one thing is for sure i'm sticking with my regular piercer from now on. she didn't do anything wrong, but i have not been excited about this piercing ever since i got it, and now having this bump is making it kind of worse :/ i've had success with chamomile soaks in the past. anybody have a reason to say no to this? Sounds like she just caused a lot of trauma to the area during the piercing. I don't really understand this part though, piercing at a 9g then stretched to a 10g?
Try the chamomile compresses once a day along with some sea salt soaks. Try to just leave it alone the best you can. It may bounce back. It's only a couple months old so be sure to give it a chance. :) |

yeah. my normal piercer just pierced it at a 10 and it healed just fine.
and then she is all like " this will cause less trauma" and that she prefered this method over punching or just piercing it at a 10. i'll keep up with cleaning. and on a side note, it looks a bit better today. the bump is less swollen and oozy. but seriously. she was kind of a bad piercer. i feel like an idiot for letting her touch my ear. |
