I got that itch. Have you ever had it? Know what I feels like? If you're reading this I'll bet you do.

I want another hole in my body, more ink on my skin, to hang suspended by nylon and steel. To be branded, to be cut!

But why? That is the question on most people's minds. Why would you willingly and knowingly inflict pain upon yourself? Well, I can't answer for everyone but I can tell you what it means to me. It means, clarity, it means comfort, it means security. Why? Because body modification, like so many other mind altering experiences is distracting and exilerating. See because, for me, it really isn't the after effect of having metal in my body or ink on my skin. Sure these things can be aesthetically pleasing but it is the act itself that truly satisfies my soul.

"well then, why don't you let me just punch you in the face! " and I say "sure!" to that but, only if you don't mind me punching you back. I love a good fight.

In the past I burned myself. But eventually I found that piercing can stimulate the same feelings, albeit in somewhat of a shorter existence. Therefore finding body modification is one of the best things that could have happened to me. Now it's not just about mutilation, but presentation. And this idea alone incourages me to take cake of my body, instead of treating it like the biological puss ball that it is. I now care about myself, if only for what future mod I may have in mind. And so, I encourage anyone who is into cutting or burning to check out the nearest body mod shop or website and reconsider what your currently doing to yourself and know that there are other, safe, and more enjoyable alternatives.
I am pierced, therefore I am.

I know that itch well, but I thought maybe you meant the itch of healing. My thigh is driving me straight batty today and my shoulder is still pretty darned itchy a year after being cut!

I thought you meant the itch of piercings/scars too haha. I just got two butterfly scars done and they're itchy as all hell! A nearly year old scarification I have done has also been incredibly itchy still...I feel your pain Mindy!!

When it comes to tattoos and other work, I've gotten quite a bit done this year. I get the underside of my chin tattooed in the morning and my face branded in two weeks as well. It's been a good year for Cale mods. :D

Whenever I hear "the itch", I too think of healing-itch.

It was so hard not to claw the absolute fuck out of my back this summer.

I know the itch... it was the cause of my Impatient for my Navel Piercing thread. My itch is now satisfied, as I'm busy with aftercare. My SO says he thinks I'm accelerating, since this is my second piercing this year, but since navels take a good long time to heal, I can hope I won't feel the itch for a while again.

I mostly itch for the way something will look rather than the way it will feel, I get a real kick out of being able to change my body.

I've got problems of my own, but not the kind that can be solved with an atom bomb.

I agree with the above. I just got an industrial, and the first day it kept actively hurting. I kept thinking "remind me why I got this again?" until I'd look in the mirror. Then I'd know.
