Took this pic right before I made the final push:

I swear, the septum pretty much gauges itself.. I have had to put 0 effort into this, and there's never any real pain.

Now at a 6g, and once this bad boy heals up I guess I will be using tape to reach 2g.

dont skip 4. And for the sake of your face, quit using acrylic tapers.

Tape is way better than an acrylic taper. :)

Did you guys both mention "acrylic" tapers for a reason? Also, yes Cale I got some PTFE tape as you suggested; but I also thought I had to use tapers up to a 6g?

They carry several safety issues:
Firstly acrylic can not be heated to successful sterilisation temperatures.
Secondly many cleaning fluids, alcohol and some natural body fluids can cause the acrylic to degrade into harmful chemicals.
Thirdly beacuse of the issues with using chemicals or heat to clean acrylic it is actually very difficult to keep acrylic tapers clean.
Fourthly for a plastic acrylic is unusually prone to shattering into sharp fragments.

Most acrylic tapers tend to have a very sudden change in diameter to the size it is listed at as well right?

Where as a nice steel taper is going to be long and have a nice gradual shift from the old size to the new size. Making it much more gentle on the tissue you are stretching?

What type of bodily fluids can effect acrylic? I only cut the tapered part off and left the 4mm piece in my septum as a plug :/

Acrylic can release certain chemicals at temperatures near 100 degrees F. What else is near 100 degrees? YOU!!. On top of that, the natural acidity of your bodily fluids (sweat, oils, mucous) can break it down. These chemicals can cause cancer, but more likely just a shitty reaction.
