Hello forum.

I'm looking for a piercer who does subdermal implants. I need to find someone who can advise me on how to get a pet ID chip properly inserted into my skin. I would like to know what places are ideal to insert such a chip, whether the chip can be inserted into certain places which I prefer, and how much it will cost to have a professional piercer do this for me. I live near chicago.

I don't know anything about piercings, but I need to find out about how to do this as soon as possible. Can anyone help me?

Im pretty sure those things are inserted non-surgically. I think with a syringe of some sort. I could certainly be mistaken though. Im not sure if he does that kind of work but you can contact Micah at Scylla in Chicago. He may be able to answer your questions better.

It is a syringe-type thing. My last vet described it as a "very large needle" and refused to let me watch the procedure.

I got to watch my new kitty get microchipped yesterday.
They used a needle attached to a syringe. Honestly, I wouldn't think it had been bigger than maybe an 8ga needle. It sure didn't look anywhere near as gigantic as the last vet had tried to tell me it was..

I have no useful info to give but I am curious as to what you plan for the microchip. Every single time I see one of my pets get one (and let's just say I've got a plethora of critters chipped) I start dreaming up reasons to get one myself.

That was my first thought Eva, that ain't a large needle, I have taken some "large needles". Last time I had to get a shot one lady asked me in front of my boss and a couple of friends (we all went in together) if I was afraid of needles and they all busted out laughing (they've seen some of the Moddities 12 pics). She of course then proceeded to give me my shot and started to talk about drug use. I just told her I have piercings, that is what they were laughing about.

My cat was microchipped last week. It was about an 8g needle attached to a syringe, so the same as evalution saw. It's definitely a huge needle for a cat (I felt so bad!), but not too bad for a human.

Am I confused, or did you say you wanted a chip inserted in you?
