hiya, my name is jay and im after advice/ information on how to get started in the piercing industy. i have attempted to seek out this information on my own and have not been very successful.
My main questions are; * are they're any courses i could take (preferebly local to me - staffordshirere, uk ), if so how do i find these? *i have heard that an apprentaship may be the best way, does anyone know who would be willing to teach me or the best way to approach this? * less importatnt - how does a piercer usually get paid; do they provide their own equipment and make a percentage on each job or do they recieve a set wage? thank-you for taking time to read / reply |

Work hard. Find a REPUTABLE piercer to give you an apprenticeship - this means at least a year of shop grunt work, watching piercings being done, and hopefully one day actually practicing them.
Don't cop out and go to a silly piercing course! There is no respect for course trained piercers in the UK. I know several places that run them. Derby, which is close to you... ARE ABYSMAL! .Go and you will be poorly trained! Courses result in no job after as shops want reputable 1-1 trained piercers. As someone local to your area, I live in Burton.. your best chance of an apprenticeship is getting friendly with your local shop. Pay wise: Apprenticeships are UNPAID.. It will take at least a year before you get any kind of payment.. And then you only get a cut of all work you do. Shops have their own rate of the cut. |
