Hey folks,
I am at 2g / 6mm on my lobes, Looking for some advice, they are slightly off alignment with each other, I don't mind that, but my right ear (the one with the conch done) is slightly lower than the left, the left is fine, but I am wondering could this cause problems for the future when I am stretching with lobe thinning becoming a factor? It is more evident with plugs in. If so, what advice would you give. Thanks <3 ![]() ![]() |

it could go both ways, either one will thin much more than the other or both will even out, i’ve heard of a bunch of ways to fix this both at home and as a piercer, none of them i’d recommend, you might want to go back to zero, repierce and start stretching from there, since you’re still at a small gauge

Thanks for the advice,
My piercer said he could cresent dermal punch the top of it and it should even out, but i am not too sure that would do anything for the thinning on the bottom. I have no problem in starting from scratch, but after doing some reading, isnt 2g the point of no return? If not, i will take it out straight away, would you recommend leaving the left in since thats fine? Just not stretch it until the right is ready? |

Oh, and i should add,
I am only looking to stretch to 15-20 mm, not decided yet. So, do you think that is appropriate for the right ear? |

i’ve seen ears come back from 16mm and close up completely, normally the point of no return is around 10mm (00g)
look, now i’m going to talk about common procedures in high end brazilian studios and my own procedures as a body piercing apprentice, which differ from my mentor’s procedures, so your piercer might do it some other way you can remove the jewel, pierce again once it’s back to earring size and stretch it straight to a small gauge, most good piercers around here are willing do 6mm (2g) in a first moment, i have a lot of influence from US piercers so i, as an individual, am willing to go up to 4mm (6g) in a first moment; that means you could remove it now, pierce it in a month or so, and in 4 months you’d be able to stretch it again to 6mm and both would be the same size again EDIT: to be very honest, the difference is minimal between both ears and would be ever less noticeable at 16mm or 20mm; i don’t recommend the “crescent dermal punching” because in my view it would probably make the diference between both ears bigger (not only would one be thinner at the bottom, it would also be thinner on top, giving the impression that one ear is smaller than the other); i’d say start over from scratch, it’s safer Edited by SaintGabu - February/12/2014 at 1:38am |

You'll more likely than not experience some more thinning of the right lobe if you continue up to the 15-20 mm you were thinking about.
Your best bet would be to massage them for about 15 minutes a few times a week to get some circulation going around the opening. Feel free to downsize for a bit and work your way back up using the taping method slowlyyyyy. If not, you could always ask your piercer if he can scalpel that one lobe to redirect the stretch. It'll probably not tickle lol and it may bleed a bit and cause you to have to go back to babying your lobes, in the end, you'll probably be more pleased with the end result than having it punched. It's completely your decision of course. |

Was origionally asking my piercer about scalping but he suggested the punch,
I am currently massaging them with vitamin e oil ever day, seems to be doing ok, will give it a while without stretching further and see how that gets on. Thanks! |
