so when I get tattoos at first they are always bright and really vibrant now granted I know that tattoos fade. But to me it seems like ones I do in black seem to fade more quickly on me.
and I took proper care of them and all that I was supposed to do.but they still end to be seeming just ever so slightly faded in time. I am just wondering if some people's skin does not respond that well to some ink colors |

How many artists have you been to?
I know some of my tattoos aged really well but some... not so much, I think you will find its more to do with the artists technique/skill/equipment but stranger things have happened (normally allergies to reds/purples) |

I've never heard of this strange reaction to black. Reds have been known to be easily faded on many people in the past. I'm not an expert, but have been getting tattoos for 26 years.
I would agree with choo and it may be the quality of ink used. Not all inks are created equal. |

It may also depend on placement. Where are the tattoos on your body? Some areas for me seem to fade more than others. In the areas where you are getting the black, is there color with it?

as much as ink is a factor I think technique will play a very big part (so don't bother asking an artist to use XYZ ink as it won't make a difference).
Some tattoos blur/fade/change color over time and I think artist skill plays a very big part there, just ask anyone with hand/head/knee/elbow tattoos. Edited by choo - September/13/2014 at 4:11am |

There is a chemical put into black/dark ink called p-Phenylenediamine (PPD) that can cause an allergic reaction. I am highly allergic to it. It does not stay in my skin and basically bleeds out once put in. You would probably have noticed already if you were having a reaction though.

it just seems to me like I end up feeling like I need to go in and do touch ups with black tattoos more so then others...one of mine is down on bikini line...
the other is only a few months old and I had to already go in for a touch up on it....and I am almost tempted to go in for a third... but I am kind of OCD when it comes to my work. I really love the place I got it from and the artist but the ink...just does not really stay...for that long it seems. I take care of them like I am supposed to...and all that..... and I know that not doing the right after care makes a difference it was the orignal reason why I had to go in for the first touch up.... and I know that....tattoos normally over time will fade...I am just stunned they are doing so fairly easily and quickly on my skin. |
