Anyone know who her artist was? Or know of someone in the US who could do a tat in that style?

I don't know her artist, but that style is a common staple in a tattooist's repertoire in the USA. If you have some established tattoo shops near you, just go talk with them. Check their portfolios and online portfolios etc. Most really established artists have an online presence and a google of their name can also bring up pics that they didn't post themselves.

As with all tattooing. Shop around for the right artist for you. Never, try to haggle prices since that is an insult and you don't want cheap-ass work on your body forever. If you have a budget, tell them and see what they will do for that $$ or work out multiple sessions over multiple months for large pieces to help ease the wallet. Always, always, always walk out of a shop and not get any work done there if you get even the smallest doubts about their ethics or hygiene etc. Make sure it is a clean place with good autoclave and so on and so forth.

Basically follow all the rules for finding a good piercer.

PangeaPiercing has some youtube videos on terminology, common mistakes, courtesy etc. You may want to check them out. J.C. Potts can be funny and is always informative.

Oh.. and wow! She is very pretty

Just saw that you may be near Atlanta. I was there yesterday and toured LIberty Tattoo and SOuther Star Tattoo. Both on Ponce de Leon near downtown. Both these places have some great Tattoo artists. Southern Star Tattoo also has a 5 points studio you should check out. There are some world class tattoo artists around Atlanta, just look em up.

If you ever get to Savannah, Ga. you should go to Anonymous Tattoo. This place is well known even to the Atlanta Artists. Tattoo Artists like Clay and Dean at Anonymous are just incredible. Many of Tattoo artists in the area go to them to get tattoos. Also Butcher is a great studio/art gallery just below Anonymous on the same street. Great people there and some very skilled female tattoo artists also.

Statesboro, Ga. Ivory Tower Tattoo run by Ross is a good studio. Ross has been featured in articles etc. and some of his newer staff like Jordan are just fantastic artists. I expect Jordan to be known Nationally in another 5-10 years, he is that good and just a young guy right now so he has a bright future.

I can only speak for these that I have been to in Ga. Most of my work has been done in other Countries, but I am getting work at Anonymous right now and my wife is getting work done at Ivory Tower. There are many other shops in these areas but I can only speak positively of these. Any other studio in the area that I have visited (and I haven't been to all), have been unimpressive or flat our scary dirty and dishonest. I don't want to list the names of the bad ones, because flinging mud isn't good form.

Best of luck

Thanks for the pointers. Moving slowly on this, taking my time with research and due diligence. Any thoughts on how much a tat of a similar size and complexity might cost?

You are probably looking at multiple sessions at an hourly rate. Hourly rates vary from shop to shop and geographic location. (they are also insanely high for a "famous artist" like Kat von D or someone like that). In the Savannah and surrounding areas the hourly rate is between 100 and 150 for most places.

Some shops will quote the total price of the piece and then charge you in even chunks split among the number of session they think it will take.

So, basically I guess I can't tell you a price. lol
