its a bit of trauma so it is normal depending on the person; you may have even gone into shock.

(personally) I recommend people wrap their jewelry with bondage tape or similar and over time add more wraps of tape til your close to your next size just because the gap between stretches gets so big at 8g+. (electrical tape will work if you don't have crazy sensitive skin)

and side effects? distortion of the nose D: I went back to 6g from 4g because my nose distorts too much and I didn't like the change in shape. I had mine initially pierced at 8g so that's probably why :(.
