    Posted: March/08/2015 at 9:31pm
Hello! I got both my nipples pierced this past November and had a question about the healing process.

I did SSS for the first month and then spray-able saline solution once or twice a day since then and have been fairly careful not to knock or pull them.At first they were healing lovely and there was no blood but maybe 4 days in, I went to sleep with an athletic material tank top (no bra since it kept my chest nice and snug and felt safe without it) but woke up with a lot of dried blood from my left nipple. For a few days after they both bled a bit but it stopped.

I noticed about maybe 2 or 3 weeks after the initial piercing, my nipples' side skin have seemed to grow outward a bit onto the bar in a hammerhead effect. It didn't bug me too much at first but it seems to have grown since then.

-These are things that I think might possibly have contributed to the spread of skin-
Starting in mid December my boyfriend had begun to play with them, fairly gently until last month.
I haven't changed out the initial jewelry, which I believe is 12g surgical steel, so the bars are a bit long. When I clean my nipples I spray saline on them (bottled water + sea salt, 1 tsp : 16oz ) and either just spray and slide the bars fwd & back (never rotating) and let them be, or then clean any softened crusties with a saline soaked q-tip.

I'm wondering, is there any to get rid of the skin growth or at least prevent it from growing more?Should I put in shorter bars? Side question, when should they be fully healed or I be able to change the jewelry?

Thanks in advance!

The way that bump looks like and that you found a lot of blood once makes me ask if there is some minor infection going on , quit hidden, background, but forcing the skin to grow, maybe some blood, pus enclosed in the bump.
Maybe even not infected, but a drainage problem, wound secretions beeing stuck behind a tight entry hole...?

I see, could be possible I suppose. :o The left nipple is also harder to clean due to the extra growth; I can't slide the bar very much on it. Do you think changing my cleaning regimen to SSS twice a day vs my current method would help?

I personally prefer usind antiseptic rincages at the beginning, going tu just salt much later. Here... is it painful? If no, everything going on is slow, maybe just massageing a bit to help secretions coming out - and patience.

It maybe that, in case of blocked drainage, it already healed with extra tissue (these things can stretch tissue well, it may heal like that then). Then just be happy it healed and ignore the bump!

Alright, I'll look into that. Nope, bump skin doesn't really hurt much, just a tad when I massage it but it's nothing painful and goes away fast. I'm hoping the bump will go away but if it doesn't I'm still content with my piercings.

the bump will likely come/go, and don't wory about the piercing - i'm sure it will come good :) just remember to avoid moving / touching it as much as possible... don't go nuts moving around while cleaning :).

Hmm, if it isn't hot to the touch or painful or oozing anything then I would rule out an infection. The 'bumps' look uniform and correct me if I am wrong but they are both on the outside edge of both nipples... so both nipples have the same bump on the arm side of them?

Would I also be correct in saying that you didn't have any swelling after the piercing?

Also, one more thing.... have you been told to not wear a bra / tight clothing for a couple of weeks and to only use SSS?

I'm thinking that perhaps the bar was too long, a tight bra / top has caused the nipples to be irritated from the sides and scar tissue has formed along the bar... what are the actual wound holes like?

Are you able to take a close up of both the 'bump' holes and the flat holes?

:-)
