For my self-done 5 ring lorum ladder I used 12g 3/4" diameter CBRs. For the distance I placed them apart to where the bead of the CBR above each ring is near the center of the ring below it. The depth I just kinda eyed and luckily didn't screw up. Mine are deep enough to where the skin comes almost to the curves of the rings, but not so much that it hurts to turn it upwards (exept one). And... Oh, I just realized this is for a frenum ladder instead of a lorum lader.. oops... sorry about that..

i'm no expert, so correct me if i'm wrong, but i'm pretty sure it depends on your anatomy.

Actually she was pointing out something to the original poster - the jewellery Tali used was fine for his lorum ladder, but you should measure for yourself.
Considerably more helpful than your own critique, which was notably absent of advice.

pollux - Yes it's anatomy dependant. I'd check out plenty of photos first were i doing this, as well as reading up on penis anatomy (in particular venous placement), as well as frenum ladders in general. Research is the key!
However having done some of this research myself, i wouldn't fancy undertaking a ladder myself.
Frenum yes, but a full ladder is a bit more complicated potentially.

Pollux, I'm not sure that I would attempt such a piercing myself. I mean after all you have only one penis. I don't know about you but I love my penis enough to pay a professional.

However, just for the sake of knowledge, my frenums were done slightly less than 3/4 inch and she used a 3/4 inch 12 gauge straight barbell.
Oakbear is entirely right when she says that this piercing depends on your anatomy.
If you're absolutely dead set on doing it yourself you should at least go in for one and let your piercer mark the ideal locations for future piercings.
I was originally slated for six frenums and my piercer carefully took ten minutes plotting out where all future piercings should go in relation to the two I was getting.

What about the first one is it done just under the head , like when you pull all the skin , [ circumzised ]         there seams to be a perfect little hole  to  pierce in ?

Sounds like you are just describing where a regular frenum piercing sits (ie. the frenum!). Check pics on this site or BME for reference.
