This is not an attempt to make Jeeennnnniiiii's thread about a 2010 Brighton Meet null and void but a few members would like the official UK meet to be in a more central or northerly location and this is worth discussing.
My belief is that many people will skim over the thread entitled "2010 Brighton Meet" because they will assume it's not relevant to them and will not realise that it is more of a general discussion about the next official meet.
So... let's get this rolling.
Where do you think we could hold this event? Who would be interested in coming? etc etc
Discuss

im interested
i think we should decide on the location by the end of the year so we all have a chance to squirrel away some pennies.
maybe make a poll once a few ideas have started rolling?
i suggest london / nottingham / manchester

London is however quite expensive and We have had 2 meets there previously.
I would like to maybe bring the idea up again of the meet being over the Hebridean Festival. Free accomodation. 3 day music festival. Beaches, BBQ's and banter.

I can do Manchester, London, Nottingham or anywhere :)
I can also give people lifts to wherever as long as they are en route as I will be driving. If it is anywhere between Newcastle and Leicester it will save me an extra night in a hotel which will be a great.
Ideally I'd like it to be in York as York is full of fantastic buildings, ancient monuments, cool shops, nice people, and cafes that serve a great cup of tea. It's also easy to get to from the A1, the M1, the A19 the A59 and the M62.
But as I said I have a car and don't mind driving :)

The hebridean festival is On the isle of lewis. I know its a treck but so many people living close to each other = epic travelling. And I go down to london from here and its a laugh. We have had The proclaimers peatbog fairies, the chair, runrig, face the west, Van morrison, Capercaille, The ploughboys (Ploughboys stole my heart) (All sounds cheesy but ask Dakota_V - She was like Holy crap this is awesome)
This was the idea for it :
Whats that?: The reputation
of Hebcelt is now legendary; a unique location, fabulous music, and a
fantastically warm and enthusiastic audience who welcome 'home' all
guarantees this event is the original homecoming party of the year!
For these 4
days of the year our island is filled with people from all over the
world. There is no room anywhere for people to stay, and that included
normal peoples houses renting out rooms. And.. The bars are actually opened
before 9pm. Thats really saying something. There are stalls everywhere, people singing and dancing in the streets. German hippies with dreads to their arses :D Its all good.
Accomodation: Everyone can stay at my house unless numbers get too big. If they get too big then A
week before, i will put the BIG army tent up, it basically covers the
Garden and will allow us all to camp and party at our own accordance.
We will have the BBQ, so we can all have a nice wee Bodymod meet up. Get the Guitars, The Booze, And for the smokers... Fags :D The weather is beautiful over the summer :D
DONT WORRY: My home is a free for all, shower, bath, towels, food, livingroom.
Cost:
Tickets cost for students no more than 40 pounds, Tent night tickets
cost around 40 total. 40-50 for non concession people. Cheaper than
Download/leeds, reading etc if you ask me.. and you get bodymod
members..!!
Travel: I can help you
get to mine and back for 60 quid if you live within England and
Scotland. There is a bus going from London that goes through
Birmingham, Preston, Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen and then to Inverness.
There you get the ferry bus, the ferry and ill pick you up. Total travel 60 Pounds MAX - For those who live close to each other you can travel together to pass time and make it more fun! If you live outside these places then i can also help you if you tell me where you are.
Stuff to do : We can rent out the entire viking paintballing. The Go-Karting, Think masssssive fields.. and a bodymod match. We have some of England most beautiful beaches. BBQs, Callanaish stones/ lunch, carloway broch, Castles and stuff :D
Its no more than 150 quid for everything and you get a weekend Festival and a Meet up and a party tent. I say worth it

Just an idea... Manchester is nice too.

This all sounds very tempting, I would love to join you people for a UK meet if possible!! I have to come from the continent ie travel a fair bit anyways, I don't really care where it is, but I love the rugged nature up north and Isle of Lewis sounds fantastic!

Canal Street would be good.
Start at Grand Central, hit Canal Street, then go to Satan's Hollow, or Jilly's.
The beauty of Jilly's is that it's open till about 7am, so people who don't fancy paying for a hotel can simply stay up all night then get the train in the morning.

So, We meet friday and then do what? What is the plan for the day? And where do we go that night and saturday?
We cannot just go to pubs.. Alot of people do not like going to the pubs. That why we all went out for the meal last year. We have to do stuff everyone would enjoy.

So, are we talking about a pub crawl/piss up or Bmod Uk meet?
Manchester - Is a city. and is expensive. Not much explanation needed, I suppose.
Isle of Lewis - Free/cheap accommodation, BBQ, paint balling, food, a fucking festival. and if you just wanna drink and spend you time like that, Clubs, bars.. and nicer place for cocktails for posher people. And also compare the expenses of staying in hostels / hotels there and money for going out.
And Now, Use your brain, if you have one!

I enjoy pubs (even though I don't drink) but I agree that a day long pub crawl followed by clubbing and another day of pub crawl is not worth the effort or money of going to Manchester for.
Aside from shops and pubs Manchester has a good museum (with lots of Egyptology), a very fine art gallery, and a reconstructed Roman fort. There will be cinemas, bowling etc as well.
If we do have the meetup in Manchester I will be able to give lifts to people living in Harrogate or Leeds. I'd be travelling to the meetup and home again in the same day as Manchester is too close for me to justify a hotel stay.

Cinemas are nothing new though. Nothing different. Manchester is just another city like every other. Why pay to have a meet in a city when most people already live in one? Most people love music and The heb fest is huge. T in the Park tent and live bands and a good time. Its giving you twice as much for half the cost.
I love forts, castles and stuff which is why i love Lewis. Castles, standing stones, viking housing, Blackhouses and mills.

I would love to see the Isle of Lewis. I would not especially want to go to the music festival or paint ball but the stone circles, brochs, ancient churches, and other historic sites are just the kind of thing I love to visit.
I'd need to work out the journey well in advance and where I can stop over on the drive up. Again I would be able to pick up anyone living in Yorkshire or along the route.
Lewis is a DEFINATE possibility :D

I spent a week on lewis with the lovely laura, and i was at the hebcelt fest. I hate celtic music. But i had an amazing time. I know where i'm going for travel, and the ferry would be a total RIOT. I vote lewis, because the festival is ages away and i can save up, it really is something special.

the only thing i would say about the Isle of Lewis is that (from experience) people will say they'll go... but they'll bail last minute. either because of the sheer hassle to get there, or because of the lack of time.
to get the cheaper option and get a bus, you're looking at a day of travel (which is what it took Laura to get to London) and with that at either side, people will have a day to spend there before having to go back to go to work.
just my thoughts on it anyway.

Is this meet going to just be modders coming to see each other or will there be modification going on? Sorta like SkinD?
Because as much as I'd love to come see all of you I'd much rather do it in a modification setting so I can see artists working and have some work done myself... I've friends that are interested in these sorta things and I would love to bring them along with me but if it's just modded people meeting and having a chat there wouldn't be much point in brining them.

yay!
