Topic: Big girls don't cry.Posted By: calliewallie
Subject: Big girls don't cry.
Date Posted: December/25/2011 at 7:33pm
So i really need some suggestions and help, as i'm being super fussy and indecisive.
I want a tattoo with 'Big girls don't cry' incorporated with something, but i'm stuck on choosing the something.
The sentimental part of the tattoo is the script, so the rest of it is just to make it pretty, but obviously keeping in with the theme.
I'd also want it to be quite traditional in the style of the tattoo but i don't want any kind of anchors, swallows, DOTD girls, mexican gypsy girls, lockets, hearts or roses, just to narrow it down slightly.
If anyone has anyyyyyyyyyy kind of ideas that would be great.

I recall you being a hairdresser? maybe something related, like hairspray cans, scissors?

Going off of Ros's idea you could do a hand holding scissors with "Big girls don't cry" above or below the hand.

i wouldn't mind getting something not related to the quote, i just don't want it to look silly.

i have asked the tattoo artist, but i'm not keen on his ideas, that doesn't mean he's not a good artist though, i'm just very fussy and prefer to think of my own idea then have it designed.

or, playing off the doll idea, a broken doll. the most common reason for girls to cry.
going back to my original suggestion - in a way, it can be said to be related. fancy hair and make-up is for 'big girls'. and scissors/a handheld mirror can be done quite nicely on the 'old style'.
you could always get an overweight girl's silhouette as well, playing a pun on the 'big girls'

Maybe an old and weathered rag doll -missing an arm and an eye or something- trying to fix her hair or put on makeup.

How about a robot girl. Robots can not cry. So the robot shows not only the strength of not crying but also the inability to fully express emotion. Also robots are cool.

maybe if i post my reason for having the quote it'll make things easier, as i know i'm being too ambigious so i'm not being helpful.
like ros said, it's about being a big girl, and learning not to let other people put you down because of it, along with having general insecurities and learning to deal with those insecurities and except what you are and who you are. no point crying over what can't be changed, and definitely no point in crying over what CAN be changed, you have a choice! so that's my little spin on it.

this is a body modification forum, and this is a tattoo ideas section, is this not where you ask for ideas?
i'm not asking anyone to design a tattoo for me, i'm asking for suggestions, like i clearly stated.
i don't see why you're struggling with that.

or how about people stop commenting when anything they say is not warranted or necessary. she can decline a suggestion if she wants.. she's not asking for a design, just ideas. EVERYONE on here has done this at once point or another whether it was asking if people thought it was a good idea or asking for opinions that are different than what she has maybe thought of herself. who are you guys to tell her that she shouldn't read your comments in the thread she created when your comments are actually quite rude?
/rant. effin' a.
with that said, after reading why you want to get this tattoo, how do you feel about a big girl pin up? could be holding up a hand mirror applying makeup of sorts. or a sexy pin up holding a gun or something of the sorts. I'm kinda stuck on the pin up idea but that's probably because I love mine so much lol what about maybe having something done with your favorite flowers? I like ros' idea with incorporating the hairdressing bit with it too (if that's what you still do)...
honestly, all I can think about right now is how my dentist has a "the 4 seasons" record & song list hanging on the wall in the room you have work done in lmao... big girls don't cry is in red colored font lol

thanks freckled :)
yeah i'm swaying more towards having a pin up, i've always wanted a pin up and i think the quote would be best suited with a pin up! obviously like you said a chubby pin up though :P
haha really? good dentist ;)

Okay so I resistedd the urge to comment yesterday, but fuck this. Belle is far from moronic.
You gave very little background as to why you wanted the slogan you have chosen for a design, you gave a list of dislikes and very little in the way of likes and you claim
" i'm just very fussy and prefer to think of my own idea then have it designed"
however you blatantly have no clue as to what you want (other than a slogan) , it is not as if you have put forward something that simply needs tweaking, therefore that smacks of asking others (strangers at that) to design what you want inked onto your body for the rest of your days.
In conclusion please keep name calling out of the forums it is far from big and far from clever.

you're right, i don't know what i want, that's why i asked for SUGGESTIONS.
i made this thread to get some ideas, yes i know i was ambigious but i'm not sure myself what i'd like, i don't see any harm in asking others for ideas, that doesn't mean i'm depending on anyone to 'DESIGN' something for me, i'm asking for IDEAS AND SUGGESTIONS.
why do you some of you find that so hard to understand? it's actually baffling me as to why you're struggling to grasp this concept.

I think the good intentions on both sides are getting lost in semantics and in a real conversation Bell and Callie would get along just fine,
