we should get a range of bars in - overgone likes metal/hardcore, etc whereas jen doesn't like metal...

I'd like a mix of bars/clubs too. I don't mind going to metal or punk or whatever, but we should definitely mix it up and cover as much ground and variety as possible

i know it's quite a gay question to ask, and it's answer will come closer to the time (unless you are REALLY organised/obsessive) and it'll be aimed at the girls but you will be gettin asked what you're sorta thinkin of wearin.
it sounds so vain/stupid but don't wanna turn up in trainers to a nice cocktail bar for example.

Ahaha! Me and jenni were discussing that we need at least 3 new outfits, Friday night outfit, Saturday day outfit, saturday night outfit. ATleast. Then extras "just in case outfits" Friday im wearing skanky 13 hr bus travel clothes" Go me. Saturday day - Bought jeans and a top. Saturday night - Casual cocktail dress <- i think.. I agree that a pub crawl would be a very bad idea given the venue, but surely the prospect of one or two pre-venue drinks isn't out of the question?

the reason for the venue: i understand that a lot of people here prefer to wear jeans and trainers, but i didn't want this to be a casual night at the pub. it's an event. it's supposed to be more like a proper night out. finding a place that will allow you in in trainers is hard enough anyway (and i'm talking where i live in bolton, here, let alone london) and i really don't want to run the risk to people being kicked out because they aren't dressed smartly. i think it's going to be hard enough in the first place to convince the staff that 30 people with tattoos aren't going to cause trouble (not just our behaviour, but the behaviour of others) so i think everyone would be doing everyone a favour by at least trying to make some effort. it isn't actually that posh. it took me ages to try and find somewhere that will suit everyone. i'm hoping that the fact that shisha pipes are offered gives an indication that this isn't an ordinary bar. and if you look at pictures on the website, it doesn't seem that posh at all really. guys - decent jeans and a smart top/shirt. shoes. girls - well, girls smart casual. girls can do a lot with that. and for those appearing on friday night, you can go wherever the hell you want. ------------- well i might have somethin' to say about that, space man! |

Lucifer, one thing that they're more than likely going to refuse entry for over anything else in London, is wearing a cap. The majority of places don't allow them as they can be used to obstruct your face from CCTV cameras

This will be a challenge for me... I normally attend venues where there is no dress code... means I get to go in jeans, tshirts, steel toe caps. Yep, I'm not girly in anyway.
I'll see what I can pull together, I'm guessing the steelies will have to stay at home.... Do modified band tshirts count as smart casual? I think the girliest thing I own is a modified mudvayne shirt turned into a short dress thing - never to be worn as a dress!
And are jeans allowed for girls? I do have some which could possibly be used in "normal" life lol
I guess I've got plenty of time to go shopping.... ebay time :D
I'll try my best, but I might just end up resorting to trousers and a shirt and looking like one of the guys!!
I hope I'm not sounding awkward, and I'm definitely not dissing the venue, it looks great and anywhere that will let us lot in is welcome in my books... I do understand the reasoning behind having to dress up.. it's just very unusual for me!

I used to manage pubs in London before I started doing the job that I'm doing now, and the amount of arguements I had whilst refusing entry to people wearing caps was amazing. The problem is that if you let one person in with one on, even if it is backwards, it just blows your arguement for not letting anybody else in. I dunno about Bedouin as I've never been there, but I would just work on the assumption that they're probably not gonna go for it. And yeah I tink most networks offer free sim cards, and some give free texts and stuff if you put on say a tenner in credit, just have a quick look on the web, orange and o2 seem to be the ones giving them away frequently.
I used to love o2 with their 300 texts and 75mins I had going on with them for me just putting on ten quid a month.... AND I got to spend the ten pound in more texts and phone calls, and you could leave them whenever you wanted. I hate my current network with a passion... (3) Evil money stealers..... Grr

OK so if anybody is interested, on the Friday night, I'm going to see a friends band playing near Leicester Square, then probably a quick drink in the Intrepid Fox (Londons premier metal pub) then onto Club Demolition @ LA2 (just over the road from the Fox). As jenni has already mentioned elsewhere, can I recommend that everybody coming along on the friday night bring some form of ID. Passport or drivers licence are the only 2 that I would recommend. DON'T bring a student ID and expect them to accept it. Even though I'm 27 (and look about 45) I still get ID'd on the odd occasion, so don't take it for granted that because you haven't been checked in the last 5 years that you won't be when you get to London. ------------- Windows has detected a mouse movement.
