In an effort to try and weed out all the people that come here just to
make fun of others, or those that are leaving hurtful remarks on
peoples mods / profile pages, I have come up with a fairly simple
system to try and counter-act this problem. The solution (for now) is a
User Score for all members. When you join (and all current members),
you will begin with a 100% (5 stars). This is as good as it gets. Right
now the only restriction I have in place is that once you fall below
60% you will loose the right to post comments on peoples mods and in
their profile pages. Here's the run down: For every mod comment, journal comment, and forum post, you will receive +1% User Score. For every comment that is removed by the owner of the mod / profile, a moderator, or myself you will receive -10%. So 5 rude remarks and you will loose all mod / profile commenting abilities until you build your score back up by posting in the forums. Any post in the forum that is delete, you will receive -1% (basically equaling out the +1% you would have received for posting it). To delete a comment as a rude comment, you simply click on the "rude" link in the comment that's offensive. Here's what to look for:   In all of the profile pages, I have added an additional area on the left side that contains the users User Score. This is shown with a graphic and with a percentage. 90%+ is 5 stars, 80%+ is 4, 70%+ is 3, 60%+ is 2, 30%+ is 1, and anything less than 30% is 0.  So... hopefully this will help weed out all the morons that keep posting crap everywhere and are really just wasting peoples time. sounds like a funtional approach.
i think its a great idea as it decreases moderation usage.

Haha@hellvis. Brilliant idea Adam. Though, I deleted a comment from a mod last week cause it was double posted..maybe I should stop that because people will get bad scores. Hehe. i think this is such a great idea. maybe now all the sad, pathetic peeps out there who think its funny to leave such comments on peoples profiles will think twice before clickin that mouse button!!

To sum up the new system and to clear the worries of a few people, there are 2 different buttons to delete a comment... there is a delete button that just deletes it without hurting their rep score, and there is a rude button that will delete it and hurt their rep score. I can think of a few people that i'm sure will lose their comment posting ability damn quick, but I'll leave that up to the mod posters for the existing ones.

i like the idea, but i have a feeling now that there are going to be some dicks who abuse this system and remove comments by people they just don't like, or they are jealous of, etcetera.

I GOT MY FIRST "RUDE" !! Nah, I'm not proud, except for the fact I didn't deserve it. Lol. I like the idea and Adam you've obviously gone to a lot of trouble adding emoticons etc and thought about this a lot.
Does this mean though, that if in a forum say, you wanted to be critical of something or someone's opinion - which can happen - then the person that you disagree with can lose you rating points just because you might not agree with their opinions?
Any way time will tell.

You don't really have anything to worry about in the forums because of two reasons. 1) Only myself or a moderator can delete forum posts. 2) That kind of stuff is more tolerated (difference of opinions). And even if you do get a comment deleted, you only loose 1% (which is what you got in the first place for posting it), so you break even. .: Adam -------------

I get 10% taken off when a Mod comment is deleted. Also, Adam, I love the system, but what I've just been shown (2 Mod comments deleted by same person just for her having her tits hanging out with no modification on them) I think people are just going to delete as rude when they don't like what another person says. Any great idea or improvement will have it's drawbacks. As Eatenplacenta said, some will abuse to simply remove people they don't like, however, we as a community have a responsibility to think of one another's fellings about mods. How many of us have had to endure rude or stupid comments by the general public? I couldn't count the times personally.

I agree that it will be abused, and it is a great idea, but needs a little more work. I was happy enough with just the delete button... if you don't like what's been said, get rid of it.

Some one else already pointed this out but it just happened to me also, there is a glitch in this user score thing! I was posting comments to friends then I was looking through a forum on killing mods and running the new IM on here and suddenly I was signed out? and when I came back on my site says I have 100% user score and suddenly I can't make comments anymore. I have been kind and respectful in every comment I ever made on here! So some help in this matter would really be appreciated!!! ------------- Spread Love Not hate! |

Ok, I figured out how to get me up and running again! unless making an announcement and posting this previous comment fixed it.
since I knew it was a glitch of some kind and my user score said 100% I signed out, deleted cookies and signed back in. and I was then able to make comments again. hopefully this doesn't work for people who are truely being rude, if so please delete this comment! ------------- Spread Love Not hate! |

umm yeah I am down one star and I have been for like a week. I have been commenting people's mods and on their page, yet my points have not gone up. Also, this idea is ok, but I'm the kind of person that no matter what, I'm going to express my opinion. Meaning if I don't someone...THEY WILL KNOW! sorry that's just how I am and I don't plan on changing...even for a website.

I'm a little confused.... I've suddenly gone down to 10% and lost all my stars! That must have taken quite some work and as far as I'm aware I haven't been really rude to anyone! (I've no idea when it went down or why :/ )
I'm sure I can work it back up though
My main aim of this was to point out that when you get below 60% you can still comment on mods and profiles pages
Maybe that bit needs fixing?

Hmmmm....interesting now the stars are back instead of User:whatever percentage you are. I liked the user:percentage set up beter as you could actually tell wha your user rating was. With the stars sometimes when I hover over them it'll tell me and other times it wont, mostly it won't work though.

I think it's a great idea! My only worry is that you can lose commenting priviledges so easily...all it takes are a couple of people to take things the wrong way or press a wrong button and that's you down to 60%, and then it's really hard to recover your score again.

Once again you come up with a cracking solution to an irritating problem. I actually received two private messages I was a little offended by.
The person concerned said I should have showered before I took a Mod photo (and I did I swear) I'm just very hairy down there and my hair is NOT grey down there either. I just replied that I had showered and thought nothing of it - then I received another message kind of not believing me.
I just deleted both messages but they were hurtful cos I am fastidious in my hygiene especially where my guiche piercings are.
So thanks Adam you will save a lot of people a lot of put downs!

As to not understanding, it basically, in a nutshell, means that if a user is being rude to another, they can hit the little rude button, and it will affect that users rating. I think all you do is go to their profile, and copy&paste the profile ID# to your post in this thread, and cheesestix or another mod will take care of it!
